This is my first piece. I drew a family walking together to show a family's love and togetherness. Then I added Captain Morgan or alcohol rather to show the separation alcohol can do to a family. They were so happy then alcohol came in their lives and it split them apart. That's what the river of liquid is and the spill and splatters on the paper. You don't know it has to deal with alcohol until you look at the dads shirt. I wanted to show the alcohol more but then Mrs. Dunlap and I talked and we agreed it would be better to not make it as obvious. I really liked the way this piece turned out, although I wish I would change the hands but other than that I really like it.
Project 2- Childhood backyard.
Watercolor & Sharpie on watercolor paper 2018 Drawing
This is my second piece. I decided to draw my childhood backyard and include all of the many things I love about it. I started off with stretching out a piece of watercolor paper, then I drew out my negative spaces with a pencil. I then used rubber cement to cover those spots so I wouldn't get watercolor on them. I used blue, green, yellow, purple watercolor to do the sky and grass. I then waited for it to dry and peeled the rubber cement off. Next and finally, I colored the white spots in black sharpie. I feel like this was a very successful project and I really liked the turn out of it. I wish I could've got more precise lines on the black spots but I also feel like they don't need to be straight because it's a backyard.
Project 3: Girls just want to have fun
Drawing pencils on drawing paper 2018 Drawing
This is my third piece. I decided to draw myself to represent a girl having fun. In this picture, I was laughing and having fun as my niece took pictures of me. I really thought it showed off how fun life should be, I don’t think i’m done with this piece but I think it’s close. At first I wanted to show this piece on a canvas, but that didn’t go well so i decided to do it on regular drawing paper using pencils. I wish I could’ve taken more time on it and represented it better.
Project 4: Have you forgotten?
Drawing pencils on drawing paper 2018 Drawing
This is my fourth project. i decided to draw the american flag blowing in the wind. I chose this off of the song “Have you forgotten” talking about how people tend to forget about those who have died serving us in the army. My dad and grandpa served so I really wanted this piece to be special. I really like the way it turned out and the way the shadows reacted to the paper. I used pencils, paper, rulers, and my blending sticks to create this piece. I wish I could’ve added words or maybe fix the pile it’s on, but other than that I love it.
